With the latest White House augmented reality app, 1600, you can transform your plain old dollar bills into a nifty and insightful learning experience.
Josh Earnest, White House Press Secretary, announced that the app, made available Thursday, will let users experience a digital year at The White House and get insight into the traditions, events and the life of the president.
The app was created after the White House teamed up with the White House Historical Association and Nexus Studios "to educate and inspire Americans to learn all about what the People’s House stands for."
With an interactive 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at your fingertips, you'll have the power to tour rooms via Google Street View, witness the iconic Easter Egg Roll, see what it's like to attend a state dinner, watch Marine One land on the South Lawn and learn about events like the State Arrival Ceremony.
"President Obama has used traditional events and new technology to open up the doors of the White House to more Americans than ever before," Earnest wrote in a blog post to describe the 3D experience.
In addition, you'll have a chance to see the White House over the course of the four seasons and hear fun facts narrated by Earnest himself.
Joshua Miller, White House Director of Product, explained 1600has the potential to teach America's tech-savvy youth in an innovative way with something they're already so familiar with. According to The Verge, he shared, "We don't want it to feel too much like a homework assignment from your fifth-grade teacher. We want it to feel fun, like a game."
The app is currently available for download in the Apple App Store or on Google Play but if you can't wait for a taste, you can check out the video below:
