Welcome to the week of holiday gatherings. Ready or not, we're all about to gather with friends, family, and neighbors to celebrate the season. We'll all eat too much, watch some questionable quality Christmas films, and talk about plans for 2025. But when the topics of conversation end up in a lull, turn to a board game.
Board games are a cheat when it comes to gatherings. They're fantastic for when you get together with great friends for a night or fun or they can totally save what would otherwise be a semi-awkward event.
In either case, Amazon is coming through with last-minute deals on games that make for great gifts or entertainment for a holiday party. Depending on your location, Amazon is likely to deliver these great options on time for Dec. 25 gameplay. Check out our top recommendations.
Piggy backing on the exploration fun of the original Ticket to Ride that spans the U.S., Ticket to Ride Europe heads overseas. From trains to ferries to tunnels, the Europe version of this fan-favorite game asks players to build strategic train routes and complete secret challenges. Not only is the game enjoyable, it helps with brushing up on geography.

Catan is arguably the most iconic board game of this generation. The game that centers on strategy typically costs $54.99 but thanks to today's deal at Amazon, it's just $25. The game could be perfect if your holiday gathering includes friends who love to take part in longer games that take plenty of thought.
Catan is designed for players 10 and older and can accommodate three or four players.
Based on the stunning tilework you'll find in Portugal, the Azul board game is all about tile placement. While its simple rules are easy to learn, it's a challenge to master this game which makes it incredibly fun to play again and again on family game nights. It's also a great option for couples since it's meant for two to four players.
Azul usually sells for $39.99, but it's on sale at Amazon today for $31.97 which means you'll be saving 20% off the list price.
