Once a daily vlogger,India beloved YouTuber Casey Neistat has been less present on the platform in recent months. But in support of the victims, their families, and employees at YouTube, Neistat shared a touching video to his channel on Wednesday.
Neistat says he planned to share with his over 9 million subscribers his new plans for his channel (since parting ways with CNN) on Wednesday, but news of the shooting broke while he was finalizing his plans.

I credit most of my career and the success that I've found in life to YouTube and what it's provided me with." Neistat clarified that when he is speaking of "YouTube" in the clip, he means the people that run the company every day, and make this platform possible.
Neistat then put himself in the shoes of an average YouTube employee, and what it must have felt like when Nasim Najafi Aghdam of San Diego opened fire at the company's headquarters in San Bruno, California on Tuesday.
"Finally, you make it home ...you sigh a breath of relief, and you have to process this. And I just can't imagine how traumatic that must have been," Neistst said.
"It is because of their hard work that connects all of us."
"I think about what that must be like for these people ... everybody in that building that make this website happen that enable this. It is because of their hard work that connects all of us," Neistat said, adding that his video didn't have a big call to action, but that he just wanted to let YouTube know he was thinking of them.
"I hope you too are thinking of everyone at YouTube who's having to deal with this, both directly and indirectly," Neistat said to his audience.
Aghdam shot and injured three people, and later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A fourth victim hurt their ankle fleeing from the building. The 39-year-old shooter was a YouTuber herself, and criticized the website heavily, saying it was "filtering" her videos and discriminated against her. On her website, Aghdam featured one of Neistat's videos, which also criticized YouTube for its demonetization policies. The website has since been taken down.
