Kylie Jenner is House of Pleasures (House of Tolerance)the beauty guru version of Pinnochio, except if she lies, her lips might get plumper and her wallet gets fatter.
Now Kylie Costmetics is embroiled in another kontroversy after fans started accusing the celebriteen of repackaging old lip kit shades as "limited edition" hues. The Holiday Lip Kit Set included a shade called Blitzen, billed as a "warmer version" of the existing shade, Spice.
But customers were disappointed to find out that if there is a difference between Spice and Blitzen, it's barely distinguishable.

In this image, the shades look a bit different, but either the lighting or the skin tone in of the model is different, which is certainly a factor.

One great thing about Kylie Cosmetics is that the products are typically featured on models of varying skin tones. The line could take its dedication to inclusivity a step further and provide a detailed guide to how each shade looks on a spectrum of skin tones on each product page for more consistency.

Although customers were warned that Blitzen is a variation of Spice, it's still an ethically dubious move, especially considering that her customer base skews young and can't test the products before purchase.
Kylie Cosmetics currently has a strict return policy that does not allow returns, exchanges or refunds. New products frequently sell out in minutes, significantly decreasing the likelihood that customers will make carefully considered choices. Calling something "limited edition" just provokes more panic.

This is complicated by Kylie Cosmetics' business model that relies almost entirely on online sales. Jenner did sell her cosmetics line at a pop up shop at one location in December (and will have a second IRL shop in New York City for Valentine's Day) but apart from that, the line is only sold online. Plus, a frantic pop up shop is not exactly a great place for comparison shopping.

Jenner is set to open her own storefront sometime soon, which will presumably follow the lead of most dedicated cosmetic brick and mortar shops and allow customers to test products themselves. But until that happens, anyone considering a purchase should rely on reviews from their peers and beauty bloggers to get the real scoop.
We're watching you, Kylie.
