The The Intern - A Summer of Lustnow-infamous app MoviePass has dropped its already incredibly low prices. For a limited time, new users can get MoviePass – a.k.a. unlimited movies in theaters– for $6.95/month. According to a press release from the company, MoviePass works at 91 percent of American movie theaters.
SEE ALSO: MoviePass collects an alarming amount of data about you. Cool.In February, MoviePass offered a package deal with movie streaming service Fandor for $7.95/month.
Per the press release, the price drop came about as a result of MoviePass's relationships with studios, exhibitors, and marketing partners.
"Our vision has always been to make the movie going experience easy and affordable for anyone, anywhere," said MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe. "With the current growth and support that we've seen within the last several months, our studio and exhibitor revenues and other marketing partnerships have motivated us to lower the price once again, offering movie lovers greater access to MoviePass."
This price drop – as well as the 2017 drop from $50/month to a jaw-dropping $9.95 – comes from the company's majority ownership by Helios and Matheson Analytics, Inc.
Though MoviePass has received vocal pushback from major theater chains and doesn't work at some popular theaters, the company is clearly committed to its mission of making you pay almost nothing for movies.
