If you're planning on Dirty Audition (2025) Hindi Web Seriespurchasing the new Motorola Razr today or even this weekend, you might want to hold off. Following CNET's test with the FoldBot, a tool by SquareTrade that literally just folds and unfolds a device to test durability, the hinge on the Razr broke after only 27,000 folds.
Imagine paying $1,500 for a phone that might not even last you an entire year.
*And now, a moment of silence for those who already did.
*Judging by CNET's entire experience, though, it seems like things were rough from the start. Apparently, the plan was to stream a live-show for over 12 hours in an attempt to see if the phone could get to 100,000 folds.
But problems started to arise the minute the test began when the FoldBot couldn't even close the phone all the way with each fold. Four hours of folding and unfolding later, and the phone wouldn't even close at all.
Even after attempting to manually loosen it up a bit, and then placing it back into the FoldBot, it still wasn't working. At which point, the CNET team decided to cut the entire test and livestream short.
Remember that time Motorola uploaded an entire library of videos centered around how to take care of your Razr phone? If only there was a video dedicated to how to properly use the hinge. This entire thing could've been avoided!!
Welp.
To be fair, the Galaxy Fold had its own fair share of problems before it even launched — between the display peeling and the phone breaking from just standard usage. And, while Samsung released its own video proving the device could withstand constant folding, it unfortunately couldn't fold as many times as the company claimed.
Back in October, CNET put the Fold through the same exact test as the Razr using the FoldBot. And, while Samsung's Fold had apparently been tested to last through 200,000 folds, it only managed to last 120,000.
That's still better than the Motorola Razr, though.
But as they say: Only time will tell.
