2020 might mark the start of a new decade, eroticism and art alice mahon wojnarowicz but for TV fans it's just a continuation of being buried beneath a mountain of content through which we'll never see the light of day again.
That said, we're not complaining; the streaming wars might get a little messy, but there's more amazing TV than ever and we have the luxury of choice.
So where will we be pointing our precious eyeballs in the coming year? Read on.
We know almost nothing about this series, which will reunite MCU mainstays Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), but if the sheer joy of their scenes since Captain America: Civil Waris enough of a teaser to put it on this list. We also know that Stan got a haircut, and that the two have shared a special chemistry since press tours for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This is the buddy-cop cop film Marvel never gave us, and we are ready. -Proma Khosla
From Veepcreator Armando Ianucci and starring Veepscene-stealer Hugh Laurie comes Avenue 5, a futuristic comedy about the crew of a luxury cruise liner ... in space! It's a workplace comedy, but the workplace is the final frontier and any minor mistake could kill everyone on board. –P.K.

It's not too late to visit the town of Schitt's Creek, where the once-wealthy Rose family (Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy) have lain their heads since 2015. Over five seasons, we watched a group of spoiled and charmingly deluded aristocrats get one sharp reality check after the other, and grow into kinder, more genuine human beings along the way. It's a bittersweet sendoff for the Rosebud Motel, David and Patrick (Noah Reid), and a town full of lovable weirdos who gave us all nothing but joy. -P.K.

Kiddingwas one of the 2018-2019 season's hidden gems, with a Golden Globe–nominated performance from Jim Carrey as tortured children's television host Jeff Pickles. Season 1 told the story of Jeff's unavoidable drift towards a complete mental breakdown following the death of his son, and its incredible final shot had fans slack-jawed and waiting on whatever was coming for Jeff in Season 2. Trailers for the season show more surprises, including a guest appearance from Ariana Grande as a pickle fairy (?), and knowing Kidding that won't be the only thing to blow viewers' minds in 2020. -Alexis Nedd

SEE ALSO: The 10 best TV shows of 2019Barry Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger that could completely destroy everything hitman-turned-actor Barry Block worked for, so Season 3 really can't come fast enough. Even though the show's enduring questions about redemption, violence, and whether or not it's OK to root for a serial murderer if he's played by someone as charming as Bill Hader, probably won't be resolved next season, the first two seasons prove that Barry is the best-equipped show to examine those questions while delivering some of TV's biggest and weirdest laughs. Also — we haveto know if Noho Hank enrolls in a hospitality program. -A.N.

Between the election year and another pending impeachment, the timing could not be better for American Crime Story: Impeachment, starring Clive Owen as President Bill Clinton and Beanie Feldstein as intern Monica Lewinsky (Lewinsky herself is among the producers). Based on Jeffrey Toobin's A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President, the latest season of Ryan Murphy's crime anthology will hit screens in September, right in the thick of election season. At least no Clintons are running this time.-P.K.

The gang is truly back together in this fast-tracked Disney+ series picking up with a 30-year-old Lizzie (Hilary Duff) in New York City. The whole McGuire family (Robert Carradine, Hallie Todd, and Jake Thomas) is back, as is Gordo (Adam Lamberg). We don't know much more than the premise, but we're dying to know if Lizzie and Gordo are still friends or dating, and what cartoon Lizzie is wearing in our protagonist's head (or has she continued young Lizzie's naïve sin of being an outfit repeater??). We also can't shake the feeling that it'll look a lot like Younger, but no matter what, we're in.

It's the end of the road, or perhaps the i of the Jeremy Bearimy, for Mike Schur's quirky, contemplative comedy about the afterlife. Though it's the shortest-lived of Schur's sitcom touchstones, The Good Placemanaged in its four seasons to leave an incredible impression; what started as a silly series about how existence might look after death turned into a rapturously smart meditation on life, love, and what it means to be human — all the while believing in good and somehow pushing us to cautiously do the same.
