Spotify remains unavailable in the nation. Apple Music charges users Rs 120 ($1.9) a month for an individual account in India.
The announcement comes months after Google Play Music service went live in India. At the time, however, All Access was unavailable to Indians and customers only had the option to purchase single tracks and albums -- at a fairly high cost.
It’s not just the price point that Google is going for with its streaming service in India. A quick look at the catalogue reveals western, local as well as regional content on the service. Google says it is offering more than 40 million tracks with Play Music Unlimited Access.
India's music market is already fairly crowded with the likes of several local players Saavn, Gaana, Wynk Music, and only time will tell how Play Music fares in the country.
Google Play Music All Access is available on Android, iOS, and through web.
