China’s top internet regulator has given the green light to 346 generative AI services under a national registration system designed to regulate the fast-growing sector. On Monday,eroticized shame the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said it had completed the registration of hundreds of generative AI applications by the end of March, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure AI development aligns with the country’s policy and security standards. The initiative follows the roll out of the government body’s Interim Measures for the Management of Generative AI Services, which came into effect in August 2023.
The rules require companies offering generative AI products with potential public opinion or mobilization impact to undergo security assessments and register their algorithms with the authorities. Additionally, applications must clearly disclose their underlying AI models, registration numbers, or online identifiers in a prominent location within the app or product description page.
