Amazon could open as many as six new Amazon Go stores this year, reports Recode, citing "people familiar with the company's plans."

The company has reportedly identified at least three locations around Seattle for stores. In Los Angeles, the company is considering bringing a Go store to famed outdoor mall The Grove.
The signature feature of the first Amazon Go store is its lack of cashiers. A smartphone app, rather than a human, rings up all groceries. The app also lists the prices of the items in the store, so you can pop in and out without searching the shelves.
That said, Amazon Go stores aren't completely wait-free. Specifically, if you shop at these locations, there's a chance you could face a long line to enter the store, given its small capacity.
An Amazon spokesperson declined to comment to Mashable.

But this is certainly a sign that the company is trying to expand the franchise and spread its technology to more people.
As Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods Markets and plans for a full-scale national delivery service show, the company fully intends to dominate not only online retail, but bricks-and-mortar shopping as well.
Six new grocery stores won't be enough to cement the company's monopoly. But it sure is a start.
