Now, rapper Nelly has stepped forward to gallantly attempt an answer to one of the greatest questions of the '00s -- why the hell was Kelly Rowland texting via Excel spreadsheet in the video for "Dilemma?"

And -- do you believe it -- Rowland actually has the nerve to get p*ssed off with her fictional lover when he doesn't reply to her spreadsheet.
That's not how texting works, honey.
On Friday, the panel of Australian TV show The Project, finally had the opportunity to demand answers while Nelly was in town to promote his RNB Fridays Live tour.
And like a trooper, Nelly explained. Kind of.
"That was the thing at the time. That was the new technology at the time," he said, as if no one has ever believed him.
He continued, ever so diplomatically: "It looks a little dated now, I can see that."
