Prepare to get your protein ... in your coffee?contact us
Starbucks is attempting to change the way we drink our coffee and vegans are going to be so here for it. On Tuesday the company announced two plant-based Protein Blended Cold Brews that are available for a "limited time, while supplies last."
The cold brews come flavored with almond or cacao, and they're both made with rice and pea protein, as a well as a "Banana Date Fruit Blend," and ice. The almond brew will have distinct flavors of almond milk and almond butter, and the cacao drink will have coconut milk and cacao powder in it.
Everyone seems pretty on board with Starbucks' decision to be more aware of people with certain dietary needs and restrictions.

As Refinery 29 notes, these drinks will be prepared in the same area as non-vegan offerings, so cross contamination is a possibility.
The best part about all of this is that with the inclusion of this veggie-based protein powder, vegans can get a decent amount of protein to start the day. However, where are the vegan pumpkin spice lattes?
