Well,Bedside Sailors movie (1976) this is one musical we never thought we'd see.
Microsoft the Musicalis a short performance running through a brief history of the technology company founded by Bill Gates.
Created by 150 full-time interns and employees during their spare time over the course of eight weeks, the song and dance short is meant to forward Microsoft's mission to "empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more."
The musical is both a cringe-y and honest overview of the company's successes and failures.
From Windows, to Office, to Surface, to Xbox, to HoloLens, to Azure, all of Microsoft's major products and services get some kind of shoutout.
Product duds like Vista and Windows Mobile even get a line or two (emphasis below is ours):
Windows is the bet on which this company was madeAnd everything else followed from the dividends it paidWe missed a beat with Vistabut we’d be remiss to list a set o’Systems that assist the world without our name displayed!
And this is a gem:
All around the world our products are well-known!Except for when we tried to make a phone!
Hell, there's even a Star Warslyric:
The race to see the future seeks to redefine realityAnd HoloLens augmented it; refashioned rationalityBe anywhere, see anything, and even for the trope“Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope.”
But our favorite line is definitely:
It’s all happening hereOur machines are smart and getting smarter stillAll happening hereBut while it sparks a thrillTo know we’ll someday match his skillWe’ll never match ol’ Clippy’s strength of will
Long live Clippy, baby!
Since it's not an official ad, try to go easy on these people. They're just a bunch of geeks who love their place of work. The world needs some more wholesome goodness like this.
